UNESCO warmly invites museum professionals across Ukraine in charge of inventory, digitalization with an authority to integrate with Ukraine’s State Registry of the Museum Fund to apply for a specialized capacity-building training. This training is designed to support and empower Ukrainian museums as they navigate a rapidly evolving cultural and technological landscape.

Training Highlights

  • Expert-Led Sessions: Participate in 2 days of workshops and seminars delivered by leading international and national experts in collections management, digitization, collections database systems, and 3D documentation in the cultural sector.
  • Networking Opportunities: Connect with peers from museums across Ukraine, share experiences, and build lasting professional networks.
  • Hands-On Training: Take part in practical sessions tailored to the current needs of Ukrainian museums, with a focus on digital transformation and database management.
  • Access to Resources: Receive tools and reference materials to support your museum's growth in key areas, including digitization, collections management, and data infrastructure.

Training Objectives

This program aims to equip Ukrainian museum professionals with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to digitize collections effectively, particularly in the context of the ongoing war. Key focus areas include:

●        Approach to museum's digital transformation strategy development

●        Software, hardware, and cloud infrastructure for collections management

●        Ukraine’s State Registry of the Museum Fund

●        Digitization techniques, processes, and workflows

●        International standards

●        3D documentation of museum collections

●        Practical workshop: Digitization and Data Entry

Target Audience

●        Museum professionals from public and private museums in Ukraine, in charge of inventory, digitalization, preferably with an authority to integrate with Ukraine’s State Registry of the Museum Fund

●        A total of 100 qualified museum professionals will be selected to participate in this program.

How to Apply

Interested candidates are invited to apply by completing the online application form no later than 22nd July 2025.

Selected applicants will receive confirmation of participation by 12th August 2025.

Selection Criteria

●        Priority will be given to museum professionals engaged in museum digitization efforts in Ukraine

●        Priority will be given to professionals affiliated with state, public museums and art repositories

●        The selection will aim to ensure regional diversity across Ukraine. Special consideration will be given to professionals from regions where collections are at greater risk of damage, destruction, or looting

●        English proficiency is highly desirable to support international collaboration and access to broader resources, but it is not mandatory.

 

Note: Each museum may nominate up to two representatives to apply for this training. Each participant would need to be available offline for 3 working days including travel time.

 

Additional information

Following the training sessions, mobile units will be established. They will include professionals who have taken part in the training sessions and who as experts will be available to provide on-the-ground support for digitization and documentation processes for identified museums working together with technical specialists.

 

More information will be provided during the training.

Expenses Covered

UNESCO will cover all costs related to participation (travel, accommodation, including breakfast and lunch) in the training. Each participant will receive a certificate of participation upon completing the training.
